Overstock scores another tech award

Overstock.com is once again getting attention for the design of its mobile apps.


The company has received top honors in the Web Marketing Association's 2014 MobileWebAwards for “best iOS retail mobile application.” Overstock’s Android application received the same award last year.


"More than half of our shoppers are visiting our site via mobile devices today," said Overstock.com President Stormy Simon. "We've worked hard to create a positive and intuitive mobile experience for our customers, and have created two successful, customer-friendly applications."


Overstock’s iOS app for smartphones and tablets allows customers to shop millions of products while on the go. Customers can shop sales, daily deals, and weekly promotions from anywhere in the United States. App users will also receive notifications for exclusive coupons and daily deals with an opportunity to win a daily coupon with the Lott-O (a scratch-and-win game within the app featuring a daily chance to win a coupon). Overstock also offers a mobile shopping app for Android devices.


Overstock said its goal was to create a beautiful, intuitive application that personalizes the user experience. Overstock’s app has convenient push notifications that alert users to future sales and discounts on stock and personal interest items.


This is the third year Overstock.com has been a MobileWebAward winner.


"Everyone is so busy and on a budget, it's hard to find time to get affordable holiday shopping done," Simon said. "Our mobile apps allow consumers to price compare and shop Overstock wherever, whenever they have a free minute."


Simon added that Overstock's iOS and Android apps are continuing to see double-digit growth. With all of the recent updates for the apps, Overstock is seeing a double-digit uptick in downloads as well as the highest ratings to date.
