Whether it is toys, books or prescription drugs, Target doesn’t want to yield any advantage to Walmart when it comes to the latter’s efforts to entrench itself as the low-price leader. The latest example is Target’s decision to match Walmart’s recently announced $10 DVD preorder promotion and do it one better by offering free shipping.

“This holiday season, and every day of the year, we are committed to ensuring that our guests know they can find outstanding values at Target.com,” said Steve Eastman, president of Target.com.
