Nintendo Wii tops Feb. console sales

PORT WASHINGTON The Nintendo Wii was the top selling, next generation video game console again in February with 432,000 units sold, according to the NPD Group.

Nintendo easily outdistanced the Sony PlayStation 3, which sold more than 280,000 consoles in February and took the #2 spot away from the Microsoft Xbox 360, which dropped to third with sales of 254,000.

The best-selling video game console overall was the handheld Nintendo DS with sales of 587,000 units. Sony also generated strong sales of its older and less expensive PlayStation 2 console, selling 351,000 units for the month.

The top-selling game in February was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare with sales of 296,000 units followed closely by Devil May Cry 4 with sales of 295,000 units
