Michaels introduces low-cost party program

IRVING, Texas Michaels has introduced its new "It's My Birthday" party program in all 1000+ stores.

Designed for children ages 5 through 12 and averaging just $12 per child, Michaels' new birthday program offers parents the option of having a party in a Michaels store or at home. For the price of craft supplies, parents get colorful invitations, project ideas, instructions, shopping assistance and a keepsake craft apron for the birthday child. If parents choose to host the party in a Michaels' store, for a $50 booking fee a Michaels craft expert will set up, lead the craft and clean up afterwards and all parents have to do is provide food, drinks and decorations, if desired.

"This easy, fun program allows parents an affordable way to create an unforgettable birthday party for their children," said Stuart Aitken, Michaels chief marketing officer. "In today's economy, people want to spend less while still creating precious birthday memories. This program provides the ideas, inspiration and hands-on help for parents to do that."
