Meijer’s MealBox earns recognition

2/12/2009

The publication Internet Retailer has recognized Meijer’s innovative MealBox online tool and named it one of its Hot 100 retail Web sites for 2009, according to the company.

MealBox is a time- and money-saving tool introduced last year that allows customers to plan meals, view recipes, retrieve coupons and access nutritional information and other food-related content. The company said it has had more than 500,000 unique visitors since the launch, more than 100,000 coupons have been printed and 150,000 recipes were viewed.

“The essence of this program is to allow families to shop smarter, faster and more economically,” said Dawn Bronkema, director of e-commerce for Meijer. “We thought it was going to be a success right from the start due to its ease of use and the tremendous benefit it afforded shoppers and the initial customer response was tremendous.”

Meijer operates 185 supercenters throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
