NEW YORK Macy's today announced that it is bringing back its "Shop For A Cause" charity shopping event, which debuted last year and raised nearly $10 million for charities across the U.S. This year's Shop For A Cause event will take place in all Macy's stores and on macys.com on Oct. 13.
"Macy's charity shopping days are an extremely effective approach to supporting causes and celebrating community milestones on a regional level," said Peter Sachse, president of Macy's corporate marketing. "This year, we are hosting our second national Shop For A Cause event with the hopes that it will continue to gain notice and momentum as a compelling and simple way to support important charitable work across the country."
According to Macy's the company donates tickets, good for 20% off most apparel and accessories items and 10% off most home items, to participating charity organizations, which can be purchased for $5 each. The proceeds from the tickets go directly to the charities.Tickets are also sold at macys.com and at the door leading up to and on the day of the event, with the proceeds for those tickets also distributed to charitable organizations.
