In what promises to be the most omnichannel Christmas ever, Kohl’s contends it will offer shoppers a seamless experience that is faster and more convenient that ever.
According to Kohl’s chairman and CEO Kevin Mansell, the retailer’s customers, “will find a personalized and engaging shopping experience in store and across all devices, an extensive assortment of sought-after national and private brands for the entire family and incredible savings opportunities throughout the season, making Kohl’s the holiday shopping destination for families this year.”
To back up the “easy” experience claims, Kohl’s is doing the following:
Introducing the “omnichannel shopping bag.” Kohl’s has created one virtual shopping bag that can be accessed via smart phone, tablet and desktop so when shopping across devices, customers’ shopping bags will be automatically updated when they log into their Kohl’s account.
Integrating digital and physical. The retailer is offering the foundational omnichannel capability of buy online, pick up in store as well as ship from store. The company contends the ship from store capability will allow it to shorten delivery windows. For those who want to pick up online order in store, the company is designating special parking spaces.
Enhancing its app experience. Kohl’s mobile app features the option to scan a to scan and store Kohl’s gift cards, Kohl’s Cash and savings offers, and manage and redeem Yes2YouReward points in the mobile wallet for easy access at checkout. In addition to browsing and shopping by category, customers will experience Store Tools, a new store mode for Kohl’s mobile app providing a more customized in-store shopping experience.
Improving mobile payment options. Customers will be able to pay with Apple Pay in stores when they add their Kohl’s Charge as a form of payment. In addition, customers will be able to complete purchases across all digital channels with Visa Checkout.
In addition to enhanced digital capabilities, Kohl’s proclaims it also will be the best place for value. From Monday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Nov. 29, customers will earn $15 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent in store or online, to use on a later date. To entice shoppers to open new credit accounts, the retailer is offering a 25% discount to those who open a new account.
The theme of the retailer’s holiday marketing campaign is, “All Together Now. The messaging will empower families to spend more time with the people who matter most through a series of broadcast spots and a social campaign that engages directly with customers, bringing families together in unexpected ways, according to the company.
