Key roles filled at Gordmans
Off-price department store retailer Gordmans Stores is still without a full-time CEO, but the retailer did just fill two key marketing and e-commerce positions.
The Omaha-based apparel and home decor retailer named Amy Starr Myers to the role of SVP of marketing and Stacey Townsend was named vp and general manager of e-commerce to launch Gordman’s online sales effort.
Myers most recently served as vp of marketing and creative services at Things Remembered, the nation's largest retailer of personalized gifts. During her eight-year tenure at Things Remembered, she introduced the retailer to hundreds of new malls through strategic growth initiatives that delivered positive comp store sales and increased brand recognition, resulting in bottom-line growth, according to a Gordmans statement. Myers also led the international expansion of the company into Canada. Prior to Things Remembered, she served in marketing positions at Shop At Home TV and Kraft Foods. She also spent six years at Spiegel, Inc., where she managed the statistics, circulation and promotions departments.
"As Gordmans continues to increase its footprint across the country, Amy brings experience of growing a national retail presence. Her analytical, test-based approach will help drive Gordmans' growth," said T. Scott King, Gordman’s interim CEO and chairman of the board.
Townsend joins Gordmans from Interline Brands, a $1.6 billion direct marketer and distributor of broad-line maintenance, repair and operations products. As director of e-commerce, she led Interline's B2B e-commerce business. Townsend has served in a variety of e-commerce roles including vice president, e-commerce at Hancock Fabrics, director of e-commerce merchandising and operations at Oriental Trading Company, director of Internet operations for The Bombay Company, director of merchandising and business operations for KB Toys and web operations manager for Egghead.com.
"Stacey brings a broad-based background in e-commerce supporting merchandising, operations, merchandise planning, production and inventory control. She is a talented and well-rounded e-commerce executive who will help us launch e-commerce as an additional channel to serve our guests," said King.
