Jo-Ann makes crafty move to deal with seasonal demand

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores is boosting its work force by 15% in anticipation for a robust holiday season, the retailer reported Tuesday. The company said the hiring of approximately 3,000 workers was necessary to maintain customer service levels due as the ongoing trend toward homemade gifts is expected to impact stores during the holidays.

“More and more of our customers are expressing an interest in making their gifts, not only because they enjoy the process but also because they believe these gifts have more meaning,” said Jo-Ann president and COO Travis Smith. “We are pleased to be able to offer employment opportunities to these new team members who will help Jo-Ann deliver excellent customer service during the busy holiday season.”
