Here comes the Costco bride

5/10/2011

ISSAQUAH, Washington — Wedding season is here, and future brides who want to score a high-fashion gown, without spending their entire wedding budget, may soon be flocking to Costco. Beginning this month and continuing through August, select Costco stores throughout the country will hold special four-day trunk shows featuring the wedding gowns of designer Kirstie Kelly.

According to Costco, these trunk shows, the first of which will take place on May 12 in Austin (click here for the full schedule), will provide customers with all the trappings of a visit to a typical bridal salon, including bridal consultants, lounge and fitting room.

The Kirstie Kelly Signature line for Costco features a variety of styles from dramatic ball gowns to chic trumpet silhouettes ranging from just under $700 to under $1500; a bargain for designer-dress hunters, considering a typical designer gown can cost at least $4000.

Kelly is best known for her popular Disney Fairy Tale Weddings collection, which capitalizes on brides’ desire to look like the Disney princesses of their childhoods. She also designs and oversees a complete line of Kirstie Kelly ready-to-wear, special occasion and accessories collections.
