10/1/2012

PAWTUCKET, R.I. — In a reverse of the trend to make everything digital, Hasbro is taking some of the most popular digital games and turning them into physical board games.

The toy company has partnered with Zynga to create off line versions of its popular Word WithFriends, FarmVille, CityVille and DrawSomething brands. The line will hit store shelves this month at most major U.S. retailers and will also be available globally this fall in the United Kingdown, Australia and Canada.

Games based on Zynga's offerings will include the FarmVille-inspired "Hungry, Hungry Herd, " "CityVille Monopoly, "Words With Friends" word creation game and "Draw Something" drawing games.

The games will still include some digital features to enhance users online play.

“We are thrilled to be working with Zynga to give their millions of fans an exciting experience with the Zynga games they love,” said Eric Nyman, SVP, global brand leader Hasbro Gaming. “Gaming brings people together, especially during the holidays, and we can’t wait to offer friends and families even more great options to play.”
