Harris Teeter sweepstakes rewards shoppers with free groceries

Charlotte, N.C. Hoping to ease the pain for cost-conscious shoppers relying on lists and coupons during supermarket visits, Harris Teeter launched a sweepstakes for loyalty-card members on Wednesday that will reward every 400th customer with free groceries.

VIC, or Very Important Customer, members use their loyalty card during each shopping trip. Every 400th shopper to swipe his or her card at checkout will receive a coupon for a free grocery order. The coupon will be applied to that shopping trip.

If the winning shopper is also an online customer, the shopper will also win a voucher for $10 off their next purchase.

The program will run through June 2.
