Fatburger pulled a fast one

4/1/2019
One of LA’s most iconic fast-casual eateries is not changing its name after all.

Fat Brands Inc., parent company of the Fatburger hamburger chain, cited “April Fool’s” in explaining last week’s announcement that it was changing the eatery’s name to "Skinnyburger” in honor of its popular bun-less menu item.

“We are indebted to our fans for so passionately joining in on the joke this past week.

Reactions to our announcement were strong, and we had a lot of fun,” said Thayer Wiederhorn, chief marketing officer of Fat Brands.

To celebrate the “grand return” of Fatburger, the company announced a promotion: All deliveries via Postmates will be free one-day only, on April 2.

Fat Brands currently owns seven restaurant brands, Fatburger, Buffalo’s Cafe, Buffalo’s Express, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Yalla Mediterranean and Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouses, that have over 300 locations open and more than 200 under development around the world.
