Cost Plus World Market names winner of bag contest

11/16/2009

OAKLAND, Calif. Cost Plus World Market announced that Jill Means of Lodi, Calif., has won its first “Design A Bag” contest.

The World Market “Design A Bag” contest ran online from July 12 through Aug. 31. Amateur and professional designers alike were invited to be as creative as they wanted to be using a basic tote bag design template, provided by World Market, as the starting point. The only design criteria was that the entries must contain the World Market logo to be considered and would be judged on originality, creativity, and best representation of the World Market brand.

Means’s design was chosen from over 1,500 design submissions from all over the United States. The new, limited-edition tote bag will be featured in all World Market stores on January 17, 2010.

“When I discovered the contest for the tote bag design, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I just created a bag that I would want to use, and reflected the beautiful design style of the products in the store,” said Means upon notice that her design had been chosen as the winning entry.

As the winner, Means will receive a $1,000 Cost Plus World Market gift card and 25 tote bags featuring her winning design.
