Clothing makers seek department store concessions

Massive sales at department stores have lead many clothing manufacturers angry, reports say. Companies such as Liz Claiborne and HMS Productions are seeking concessions for the discounts.

Manufacturers and department stores will meet before the end of fiscal 2008 to discuss how to split the discount cost. Though the holiday season often sees major sales and promotions at many department stores, this year saw extensive markdowns of up to 60% to 70% off apparel.
