Blockbuster gets first dibs on Warner Bros. releases
DALLAS Blockbuster announced that it has entered into a new agreement with Warner Bros. to bring its latest DVD and Blu-Ray releases to its customers through a variety of channels.
According to Blockbuster, the agreement means customers can access such movies as The Blind Side and Sherlock Holmes the day of their release through in-store rental, Blockbuster By Mail or Blockbuster On Demand.
"This new agreement reflects our strategy to be the only multi-channel provider for movies," said James Keyes, chairman and CEO of Blockbuster. "This agreement reinforces Blockbuster's position as the most convenient source for new movies, and we are pleased to offer our customers the opportunity to get hot new movies as soon as they are released. This gives Blockbuster a full four week lead before either kiosk or other subscription services can offer any Warner Bros. titles."
