Big Lots has Lots2Give to schools in need

4/29/2013

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Big Lots, North America's largest broadline closeout retailer, has launched its sixth annual Lots2Give program to benefit schools in need of financial support.

Big Lots selected 250 schools based on geographic location and level of need. These schools will be recipients of the in-store donation program and will also have the opportunity to participate in an online video contest where they could win a share of $120,000 in cash prizes. The public will be invited to vote online to determine the winners of the video contest and cash prizes.

"Big Lots is actively involved in supporting the quality of education in the communities we serve," said Steve Fishman, chairman, CEO and president. "We need everyone to join us in supporting Lots2Give and helping its impact continue to grow."

Now through July 7, customers can help selected schools by donating $5 or $1 at participating Big Lots stores. Participating schools will receive 100% of the donations.

"The Lots2Give program allows us to support schools across the country that need it most," noted Rob Claxon, SVP of marketing. "With prize amounts totaling $120,000, we can make a big difference. Together, we can change a child's learning experience $1 at a time."

Big Lots operates 1,495 Big Lots stores in the 48 contiguous United States and 79 Liquidation World and LW stores in Canada. Wholesale operations are conducted through Big Lots Wholesale, Consolidated International and Wisconsin Toy.
