Big 5 Reports Sales for 4Q, Year

El Segundo, Calif., Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp. reported net sales of $217.1 million in its recently completed fourth quarter vs. $217.6 million in the year-ago period. The decline was partly due to the fact that the retailer’s 2004 fourth quarter contained a 14th week. Same-store sales increased 1.5% on a comparable 13-week basis.

For the fiscal year, the retailer’s net sales grew 3.8% to $812.1 million on a same-store sales gain of 2.4%.
