Barnes & Noble launches audiobook store

New York City Barnes & Noble said Monday it would sell audiobooks on its Web site for an average price per download of $10 to $20 each.

The company will offer more than 10,000 audiobooks on www.bn.com, which will be playable on iPods and MP3 players.

Barnes & Noble is offering nine free audiobooks to promote the new service. Customers can also get 50% off one title in the store with an online coupon available on the site through Sunday.

Barnes & Noble.com is working with OverDrive to manage the maintenance and distribution of the audiobooks.
