A&P Acquires Best Cellars

Montvale, N.J., Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P) Thursday said it acquired New York-based wine retailer Best Cellars.

The five-store Best Cellars is known for its customer-friendly merchandising based on flavor profiles.

Under the terms of the deal, the purchase price will be paid after four years based on the growth of A&P’s wine and spirits business.

Best Cellars co-founder Joshua Wesson will join A&P's management team as senior director of the chain’s beer, wine and spirits division.
