Amazon extends ‘digital’ holiday shopping season a bit further

12/29/2016

While most retailers have already bid adieu to the 2016 holiday shopping season, Amazon has one more trick up its sleeve.

The retailing giant will launch “Amazon Digital Day,” on Friday, Dec. 30. Similar to Prime Day, Amazon’s one-day global shopping event exclusively for Prime members, Amazon Digital Day will be a year-end blowout sale to encourage post-holiday spending, according to TechCrunch.

But here is the twist: Amazon is touting the sale as “an event for your devices.” Thus, the retailer is discounting over 1,000 digital items site-wide, specifically digital content. For example, Amazon will feature up to 50% off over a thousand TV shows, movies, music, apps, mobile games, and eBooks, among other categories, according to Amazon’s website.

The savings will run for 24 hours starting a midnight, Dec. 30.
