Aeropostale Q2 profit rises, beats Street
New York City Aeropostale said Thursday its second-quarter profit rose on higher sales, especially at locations open more than one year.
Profit for the quarter ended Aug. 1 climbed to $38.6 million, from $21.1 million last year.
Revenue grew 20% to $453 million, from $377.1 million. Same-store sales rose 12% during the quarter.
“Our initial reads on our back-to-school merchandise have been positive and we believe that we are well positioned as we head into the second half of the year," said Julian R. Geiger, chairman and CEO, in a statement.
