  • Adidas steps up with ventilated running shoe

    PORTLAND, Ore. -- Adidas has announced the launch of its newest running shoe, the ClimaCool Ride. The shoe features 360-degree ventilation, attacking the main cause of runners' discomfort – high humidity and temperature, the company reported. The shoe is available in 26 colors. 

  • MOGO Design makes large-scale retail debut at Nordstrom's

    SEATTLE, Wash.  -- MOGO Design, a Seattle-based company that has developed a new and patented magnetic accessory line for tween girls, announced that it has signed a national distribution deal with Nordstrom. The deal will bring the MOGO charm line with more than 200 charms to all Nordstrom full-line store locations throughout the United States and is MOGO Design's large-scale debut into the fashion specialty retailer channel. MOGO is available in select locations now with the full roll-out to be complete by April 2011. 

  • Report Sees Strong Rise in Retailer Growth in 2011

    Retailers’ growth plans in the United States are up 40% over last year’s levels, according to ChainLinks' Retail Advisors Spring 2011 National Retail Report. The report, which details trends impacting retail commercial real estate in more than 40 of the nation’s top markets, credits the surge in expansion to two key factors: the return of optimism within the retail sector; and the desire to expand quickly now -- before retail fundamentals improve enough for rents to start climbing again.

  • Walgreens achieves record sales, Rx growth

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens announced on Tuesday record sales and earnings for the second quarter as it celebrated a milestone of filling 1-in-every-5 retail prescriptions for the first time in the company's history.

    Net earnings for the quarter were $739 million, or 80 cents per diluted share, compared with $669 million, or 68 cents per share, in the year-ago period.

  • Survey: Commute times impact c-store users

    Houston -- A survey released Tuesday by NPD Group found that morning and evening commutes are a peak time for super heavy users of convenience stores to visit, while moderate and light users tend to visit more during the evening commute.

  • Walmart wrestles itself a WWE deal

    STAMFORD, Conn. -- WWE and Vivendi Entertainment announced that Walmart will be the exclusive retailer for WWE Studios’ films. Vivendi Entertainment will continue to be WWE’s North American retail and rental distribution partner. 

  • Tiffany's 4Q comp shows why luxury still strong

    New York -- Despite continued weakness in the overall economy, middle and upper-class consumers appear to remain little affected by the downturn, as evidenced by Tiffany & Co.'s U.S. same-store sales growth of 9% during its fiscal fourth quarter. Worldwide sales were up 12% for the quarter.

  • Macy's joins list of retailers supporting Japanese relief efforts

    CINCINNATI -- Macy's Inc. announced that it will make a corporate contribution of $100,000 in cash to the American Red Cross for earthquake and tsunami relief on behalf of Macy's and Bloomingdale's associates across America. In addition, the company said it will match, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, all employee contributions of $25 or more to the American Red Cross and other U.S.-based organizations providing rescue and relief assistance in Japan.
