  • Zale expands customer financing options

    Dallas -- Zale Corp. announced the addition of Genesis Financial Solutions to its U.S. alternative financing program. The new financing option, which became available in October, is offered in Zales, Zales Outlet and Gordon’s retail stores.

  • Home Depot opens 100th location in Mexico

    Home Depot has opened its 100th location in Mexico, according to an article in El Financiero. The Atlanta-based retailer now operates 95 stores in 60 cities in Mexico, where it generates annual revenues of $1 billion, the newspaper said.

    In the final quarter of 2012, Home Depot will open stores in the towns of Coahuila, Sonora, Veracruz, Michoacán and Nuevo León.

     

  • Target joins early Black Friday crowd

    Target plans to open at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day to kick of its Black Friday promotional efforts and will follow up with additional deals that become available at 4 a.m.

    The company is also rewarding its REDcard holders by allowing them early access to select Black Friday sale items at Target.com.

  • Dillard's sales jump in Q3

    New York -- Dillard’s third quarter merchandise sales for the quarter ended Oct. 27 increased 4% to more than $1.4 billion, same-store sales increased 5% and operating profits increased 84% to nearly $73 million. Gross margins expanded 40 basis points to 37.1% and same-store inventory levels were down 1%.

  • CPG marketers join social firm

    Brand marketing veterans Chris Burggraeve and Ted McConnell are the newest members of the board of industry advisors at Syncapse, a leading social performance management company.

    Burggraeve is the former chief marketing officer of Anheuser-Busch InBev and founder of Vicomte LLC. McConnell is a former director of marketing innovation at Procter & Gambler and EVP of digital at the Advertising Research Foundation.

  • 7-Eleven completes purchase of 12 Fast Track stores

    Dallas -- 7-Eleven announced that it has completed the purchase of 12 stores from Fast Track  in Central North Carolina, including Winston-Salem. Terms of the agreement are not disclosed.

    Remodeling of the units to transform them into 7-Eleven stores gets underway in late November and rebranding is expected to be complete by mid-February 2013.

  • Wegman and Smucker honored by GMA

    The Grocery Manufacturers Association named Danny Wegman and Timothy Smucker as the 2013 inductees into the trade group’s Hall of Achievement.

    Danny Wegman serves as CEO of Wegmans Food Markets and Tim Smucker serves as chairman of the J.M. Smucker Company. The pair will receive the Hall of Achievement honor when GMA gathers in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 19 for the annual Chairman’s Lecture held in conjunction with the Food Marketing Institute’s midwinter conference.
