  • Saks redesigns website

    NEW YORK — Saks Fifth Avenue has redesigned the Saks.com homepage to include a longer, more fluid layout that more prominently highlights seasonal trends and most-wanted designers. 

    The new site now features larg-scale photography, improved navigation, easier access to magazine-style features and enhanced product detail pages.

    Saks.com was last refreshed in July 2010 and the last complete redesign was in September 2007.

  • Finding ‘Fabulous’ the Marshall’s way

    Off price retailer Marshall’s has teamed up with television personality Maria Menounos to promote the treasure hunt atmosphere its stores offer shoppers.

    Menounos, best know for her appearances on Extra! and Access Hollywood, has seen her share of red carpets and touts the fact that Marshall’s stores are a great destination for similar looks and what she refers to as "fabulous finds."

  • Sales results mixed for Dick’s Q4

    Dick’s Sporting Goods fell three cents short of analysts’ profit forecast in the fourth quarter thanks to a 1.2% same store sales increase partially caused by unseasonably warm weather and soft sales of big ticket items.

    Sales for the 14 week period ended February 2, increased 12% to $1.8 billion compared to the 13 week period the prior year. The company’s consolidated same store sales increase of 1.2% was driven by a 54.2% increase in online sales, offset by a 2.2% decrease at Dick's Sporting Goods stores and a 1.3% increase at Golf Galaxy stores.

    HOUSTON — Fashion accessories retailer Charming Charlie announced that Tom Fitzgerald has joined the company as EVP, CAO and CFO.

  • Barnes & Noble signs CEO to new employment pact

    New York -- Barnes & Noble Inc. signed an employment agreement with CEO William Lynch to remain in his post for another two years, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

    Lynch will receive the same compensation and benefits as before, but get an additional cash bonus of $1.8 million for his role in attracting investments from Microsoft Corp. and Pearson PLC in forming Nook Media LLC, according to a Reuters report.

  • Ann Inc. delivers fashionable earnings for FY 2012

    NEW YORK — Ann Inc. reported fourth quarter earnings per diluted share of 5 cents, compared with earnings per diluted share of 4 cents in the fourth quarter of 2011.

    For the full year of fiscal 2012, the company reported record earnings per diluted share of $2.10 , an increase of 28% compared with earnings per diluted share of $1.64 in the full year of fiscal 2011.
