Newegg debuts online flower delivery service

A tech-focused e-tailer is growing its product assortment and delivery offering in a whole new direction.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Newegg is attempting to disrupt the online flower delivery category with a new online floral storefront. The company is offering a large assortment of fresh flowers for under $50 and a number of products offering free delivery.

Newegg says it will apply its efficiency of scale and ability to leverage preferred shipping rates to provide floral customers maximum value. The e-tailer began testing online flower delivery earlier in 2021, which enabled it to validate market demand and fine-tune how it promotes floral products to customers.

Newegg now plans a much broader array of floral products for Mother’s Day, and is continuing to calibrate how it markets floral products both to customers shopping on its platform and other consumers. The company is partnering directly with farms in the U.S. and South America, which it says allows it to source the freshest flowers and plants to ship directly to customers overnight, while keeping costs down for shoppers.

“As a mature brand in the e-commerce space, Newegg has the ability to pivot quickly and pursue market segments that are ripe with opportunity, and that’s precisely what we’re doing with our new floral offering,” said Anthony Chow, Newegg global CEO. “We plan to parlay our expertise delivering top-shelf customer experiences into the floral market, giving people a better way to shop for flowers, with all the cost savings and convenience associated with online shopping.”
