A study has revealed the ten most popular sportswear brands in the United States, with the results based on Google searches.
Nike took the top spot in the study, which was carried out by online shopping experts Rakuten. The company analyzed Google searches across the past 12 months for different sportswear brands to see which brand is the most popular in the United States.
Nike came in first, receiving nearly 7 million searches (6,650,000) searches a month. Utah is the state that was found to be most interested in the brand based on Google Trends results.
Lululemon came in second place, receiving, on average, 5,730,000 searches in the U.S. every month. A much younger company compared to other entries on the list, Lululemon searches grew exponentially following the pandemic. Minnesota is the state that was discovered to hold the most interest in the brand.
Adidas took third place on the list, with an average monthly search volume of 2,550,000. The company is currently one of the oldest sportswear companies around. New York is the state that was found to be most interested in the brand.
Coming in fourth place is New Balance, with the brand receiving 1,640,000 searches a month on average. It’s the oldest company in the top 10, founded in 1906. The state that was found to be most interested in the brand is Maryland.
Rounding out the top five is Under Armour, which comes in with 1,150,000 searches every month on average. Once again, Maryland came in as the state with the strongest interest in the brand.
Athleta, a division of Gap Inc., came in sixth, with 1,050,000 monthly searches, followed by Converse, with 1,010,000 monthly searches. Patagonia was eighth of the list, with 937,000 monthly searches, followed by Gymshark, with 902,000 monthly searches. Fabletics came in tenth, with 882,000 monthly searches.
According to Google Trends, the state most interested in sportswear is New York, which Mississippi and Kansas then follow. New Mexico, Montana, and Vermont had the least interest.
The study was conducted by Rakuten, which offers coupons and cash-back services at more than 3,500 stores across the United States.
