  • Wal-Mart doubles small-store expansion amid weak sales and lowered outlook

    Bentonville, Ark. – Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is doubling its projected growth of small format stores as the retailer reports declining net income and weak sales growth for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2014.

  • APG Cash Drawer releases Bluetooth interface

    Minneapolis -- APG Cash Drawer LLC is releasing the BluePro Bluetooth interface for cash drawers. Now available for purchase through APG's distribution partners, the BluePro Bluetooth interface will enable cash drawer control via Bluetooth communication and allows retailers to wirelessly synchronize and create a one to one relationship between the cash drawer and tablet.      

  • StopLift introduces self-checkout security tool

    Cambridge, Mass. - StopLift Checkout Vision Systems is introducing the Self-Checkout Accelerator, which is designed to immediately flag unscanned merchandise at the checkout and alert the attendant before the customer leaves the checkout, improve customer service at the self-checkout, and prevent false alerts and interventions.  

  • Jamba Juice launches omni-channel loyalty program

    Emeryville. Calif. - Jamba Juice Company has unveiled its new Jamba Insider Rewards customer loyalty program in stores nationwide. Now, typing a phone number entry on a touch-screen allows Jamba Juice customers to earn rewards, personalized offers, and free products without the need to carry a rewards card at every point of sale.   

  • Walgreens to showcase net zero-energy store at CSA's SPECS conference

    New York -- Walgreens will provide a first-hand look at its net zero-energy store during Chain Store Age’s 50th annual SPECS Conference, which will be held March 9 -12, in Grapevine, Texas.  

  • Nordstrom Rack to open in Reno, Nev.

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at Redfield Promenade in Reno, Nev.

    The store is scheduled to open in spring 2015. Redfield Promenade is owned and operated by Kimco Realty Corp.
     
    "We're thrilled to bring a Nordstrom Rack to the Reno community," said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack. "This central retail location at Redfield Promenade is a good fit for us and we look forward to offering customers access to fashion at great prices when we open our doors next year."

  • Jockey Bra, Schaumburg, Ill.

    A new concept from Jockey International, Jockey Bra offers shoppers an innovative shopping experience. The 1,170-sq.-ft. store, at Woodfield Mall, showcases Jockey’s revolutionary “volumetric” fitting system, which is designed to eliminate the frustrations associated with traditional bra shopping.  

  • F.J. Benjamin tracks customer traffic

    Singapore – F.J. Benjamin Holdings Inc., a developer and manager of retail brands including Gap, Banana Republic and Guess, in Asia, has deployed the traffic intelligence application from Tyco Retail Solutions. The company sought a clear understanding of how the differently branded stores’ locations compared with each other, as well as the ability to track shopper conversion rates within each store.
