  • Phipps Plaza adds luxury residential component

    Atlanta -- Simon Property Group and Columbus Realty have teamed to inject a high-residential component to Simon’s fashionable Phipps Plaza shopping destination in the tony Buckhead area of Atlanta.

    The residential project, to be named Domain at Phipps Plaza, will be developed with Columbus Realty Partners.

  • Study: High-income shoppers like warehouse club products

    Chicago -- High-income consumers think warehouse club products are on a par with leading brands, according to new research from Mintel. Indeed, 38% believe store brand or private label brands at warehouse clubs are comparable to name brand items in terms of quality — a number that increases to 44% of households earning $150K+. That's the highest percentage of all income groups surveyed, compared to 27% of those earning less than $25K, 36% of those earning $50-$74.9K and 41% of those with incomes between $100-$149.9K.  

  • Winick leases three stores in Nolita to fill repositioned retail

    New York -- Winick Realty Group announced three new retail leases at 400 Broome Street, fronting Kenmare, Cleveland and Broome Streets in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood.

    Aaron S. Fishbein and Darrell Rubens of Winick Realty Group represented landlord Coral Broome Street LLC as they repositioned and upgraded these ground-floor retail opportunities.

  • Electronic cigarette retailer plans stores in Phoenix area

    New York -- Smoking Vapor.Phoenix, which manufactures and sells electronic cigarettes, has opened a store in Phoenix, and plans to open four more locations in the coming months, according to a report by Phoenix Business Journal.

    The 1,200-sq.-ft. store sells e-cigarettes, e-cigars and related products. Smoking Vapor operates a handful of kiosks in Phoenix-area malls. The kiosks will close as retail locations open.

    The e-cigarette industry has grown into a $1.7 billion market, according to Wells Fargo.

     

  • Einstein Bagels signs lease in Miami shopping center

    Lakewood, Colo. - Einstein Bagels has signed a lease for a 2,466-sq.-ft. store at Kendallgate Shopping Center in Miami. The retailer will take space within a freestanding retail building alongside AT&T in the Center’s plaza.

    Einstein Bagels has already begun construction at its new location and expects to open in late August 2014. Berkowitz Realty Group served as the leasing representative on behalf of the ownership group, Kendallgate Center Associates, Ltd.

     

  • Designer Shoe Warehouse in Canada debut with two stores

    Toronto -- Town Shoes Limited announced the opening of its first two DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse locations in Canada. DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse will open at Heartland Centre in Mississauga and Woodland Hills in Newmarket, Ontario, on Aug. 7.

    The two new Canadian retail locations, each approximately 20,000 sq. ft. will make them the largest shoe stores in the country.

  • E-commerce company Birchbox takes Manhattan

    Leading beauty and grooming e-commerce company Birchbox is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar store in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.

    The store will feature a curated product assortment that includes 2,000 products from 250 brands including Smashbox, Caudalie, Jouer, Supergoop!, Cynthia Rowley, Baxter of California, Lab Series and Art of Shaving. Testers of every product in the store will be available.

  • Warby Parker, Dallas

    Warby Parker, the hip online eyewear retailer, has opened its sixth retail location, a 1,050-sq.-ft. store in Dallas.
