  • Hockey gear maker Bauer Hockey to open retail stores

    Exeter, N.H. -- Ice hockey equipment manufacturer Bauer Hockey is throwing its puck in the retail arena. The company will open its first-ever store this summer, in the Boston suburb of Burlington, Massachusetts. It will be followed by a second location in the fall, in the Minneapolis area.

  • Bed Bath & Beyond makes its digital future

    Growth decelerated at Bed Bath & Beyond during the third quarter but the $1.3 billion the company spent buying back stock enabled it to achieve analysts’ earnings estimates.

  • Shopatron, Mozu, Brand Labs partner on e-commerce

    San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Shopatron is partnering with Mozu and Brand Labs in an effort to give retailers increased website scalability through SaaS technology, quick site ramp-up and deployment, and a lower cost of ownership. The partnership is designed to allow retailers to launch a responsive e-commerce channel built for enterprise growth, increase their speed to market with higher conversion rates, and fulfill customer orders new options for delivery.

    The National Retail Federation’s Big Show 2015 is a prime opportunity to demo the latest tech advancements from leading retail solution providers. The Oracle Retail team will be onsite with a small army of product experts, partners and customers to showcase its new 14.1 innovations, combined with powerful new functionality through the acquisition of MICROS.

  • A merry holiday season for Books-A-Million

    E-commerce and Disney’s Frozen helped propel Books-A-Million’s holiday sales over Barnes & Noble’s.

    Books-A-Million, the country’s second largest bookstore chain, reported that total sales for the nine-week period ended Jan. 3 were $129.2 million, an increase of 1.1% over the same period a year ago. Same store sales rose 1.2%, but excluding sales of e-reader devices comp sales were up 1.7% in the nine week period compared to the holiday season last year.

  • Gordon Bros. and Hilco to close all Deb Shops

    Boston -- Gordon Brothers Group and Hilco Merchant Resources will begin going-out-of-business sales at all 287 Deb Shops retail locations nationwide beginning Jan. 9. Deb Shops, a Philadelphia-based women’s fashion discount retailer, filed for Chapter 11 protection on Dec. 4, 2014.
