  • Cabela's beats Street with revenue and profit surges, 13 new stores planned for 2015

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela's Inc. saw profit rise 6.9% to $27.5 million in the first quarter, topping Wall Street expectations. Revenue of $827.1 million, a 14% increase, also exceeded Street forecasts.

    By segment, retail store revenue increased 18.9% to $524.4 million; direct revenue decreased 3.3% to $173.5 million; and Financial Services revenue increased 24.7% to $122.9 million.

    During the period, consolidated same-store sales decreased 1.3%.

  • Sears Hometown launches 51-store refresh program with seven Arizona upgrades

    New York -- Sears Holdings Corp. is hoping to spark a turnaround in its struggling Hometown and Outlet Stores division with a 51-store refresh program that starts with seven stores in Arizona.

    The store refresh includes a new product assortment, redesigned merchandising, new fixtures & signage, and comprehensive employee training, among other changes.

    Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores is embracing its branding as “America’s Appliance Experts” with a refresh of seven stores in Arizona, among other states.

  • Roche Bros. deploying NCR solution to strengthen payment security

    Duluth, Ga. -- NCR Corp. announced supermarket chain Roche Bros. has implemented NCR’s Connected Payments to help with its payments security. Massachusetts-based Roche Bros. is using the cloud-based payment solution to manage all of its daily operations related to payments across its network of stores.

  • Pandora opens shops in collaboration with Disney Parks and Resorts

    Baltimore -- Pandora Jewelry, in collaboration with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, has opened dedicated shops within two Disney merchandise locations: Uptown Jewelers in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and La Mascarade d'Orleans in Disneyland park in California.

    Both locations carry Pandora’s newly released spring 2015 Disney jewelry collection and the Disney Parks collection, as well as the brand’s full assortment of jewelry.

  • Target opens small-format stores in California

    TargetExpress, the retailer’s newest and smallest format store yet, is now open in San Francisco and Berkeley and designed with local city dwellers in mind.

    The 12,000-square-foot Berkeley store, a former Walgreens, and the San Francisco location, 18,000 square feet and housed on Bush Street in the financial district, feature a refined and modern concept. With an edgy design, high ceilings and commissioned artwork and custom graphics, MBH architects created a shopping environment that will attract loyal Target customers and on-the-go millennials.
