  • Walmart rolls out ‘Pick Up Today’ program nationally

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores announced Thursday that it will launch a national rollout of its “Pick Up Today” program later in March, expanding its multichannel offerings to allow shoppers to purchase items online and receive free same-day pickup at a local Walmart store.

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- An online order and same-day pick up service will be expanded to all Walmart stores beginning this month, the company announced. The “Pick-Up Today” service allows shoppers who make a purchase online to pick up their merchandise within about four hours if the order is placed before 6 p.m. Orders place after that time are available for pick up the next day before 10 a.m.

  • Wal-Mart plans to add hundreds of smaller stores in next three years

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores, in a presentation at a Bank of America Merrill Lynch conference on Thursday, announced that it would open “hundreds” of smaller-format stores over the next three years.

    According to Bill Simon, president and CEO of Wal-Mart U.S., the ramped-up development could be augmented by some acquisition activity, although he didn’t elaborate on specifics.

  • Shopko renovates e-commerce site

    GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Shopko announced that it has renovated its e-commerce site to provide a better shopping experience for its customers. 

    According to the company, the upgraded site features improved layout and navigation, user-friendly viewing from a variety of devices, including mobile and tablet, update product search capabilities and the ability to shop popular national brands from the homepage with just one click.

  • Sabor Tropical Supermarket to open at Biscayne Plaza

    Miami Beach, Fla. -- Terranova Corp. announced that grocer Sabor Tropical Supermarket has joined Biscayne Plaza Shopping Center, in Miami Beach, Fla., as a new anchor tenant.

    The 24,000-sq.-ft. store is slated to open in 2012. According to Terranova, the retailer is replacing President Supermarket in the center and is required to renovate the interior of the store no later than January 2012. This will be Sabor Tropical’s fifth South Florida store.

  • Sam's Club pushes eValues

    BENTONVILLE, Ark.  -- Through March 13, Sam's Club is offering an eValues trial to its advantage and business members. According to the company, the eValues program is an exclusive program that delivers tailored offers to consumers based on unique shopping patterns. The trial program will enable all Sam's Club members to receive a benefit usually afforded only to members with Sam's Club Plus.

  • Energy Kitchen to open at Suniland Shopping Center

    Miami Beach, Fla. -- Terranova Corp. announced that healthy fast-food chain Energy Kitchen will open a new 2,500-sq.-ft. restaurant at Suniland Shopping Center, located in Miami Beach, Fla.

    The new store will be Energy Kitchen’s first in south Florida. The New York City-based chain operates 10 stores in the New York City area, with, according to Energy Kitchen, approximately 55 stores in development in Florida, Washington D.C., Boston, White Plains, Long Island and Maryland.

  • Office Depot dismisses SVP contract sales

    BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The South Florida Business Journal  reported Tuesday that Office Depot has dismissed David Grove, SVP contract sales for the company. 

    According to the report, Grove's termination was unrelated to company operations, citing an Office Depot statement. Grove joined the company just 14 months ago.

    Before joining Office Depot, Grove served in various roles in the office products field including president business interiors at Corporate Express and director of business development at United Stationers.
