    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears and Kmart stores are debuting “mobile shopping walls” in high-traffic areas to reach customers who are traveling or on-the-go during the holiday season. The walls, which feature top toys from Sears and Kmart, provide Quick Response codes for each item so that customers can make purchases directly from their smartphones, giving customers an innovative and efficient way to accomplish their holiday shopping.

  • HP debuts mobile point-of-sale tablet for retailers

    Palo Alto, Calif. -- HP on Thursday announced the company’s first mobile point-of-sale solution for retailers, intended to help them to deliver a more personalized shopping experience to their customers. The HP Retail Mobile Point-of-Sale Case attaches to the newly announced HP Slate 2 Tablet PC adding an integrated magnetic stripe reader (MSR) and a barcode scanner.

  • Harris Teeter, Cardtronics team to roll out ATMs chainwide

    Houston -- ATM owner Cardtronics said Wednesday it has signed an agreement to provide ATM services to grocer Harris Teeter.

    As part of the agreement, Cardtronics has initially installed 100 ATMs for Harris Teeter in Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Additionally, the agreement provides Cardtronics the exclusive right to install ATMs in new Harris Teeter stores, as well as to transition all existing non-bank branch cash machines at Harris Teeter stores to Cardtronics' ATMs, over time.
     

  • Cardtronics acquires Access to Money

    Houston -- ATM owner Cardtronics said Wednesday it has completed its acquisition of Access to Money, an operator of merchant-owned ATMs and provider of cash machines to two major multi-unit retailers.

    “We anticipate an efficient and seamless integration of Access to Money's operations," said Steve Rathgaber, CEO, Cardtronics.

  • Gordmans names former Charming Charlie, Macy’s exec as COO

    Omaha, Neb. -- Apparel and home fashions retailer Gordmans Stores said Wednesday it has named Michael Wirkkala as executive VP operations and COO.

    Wirkkala was previously VP of store operations for Charming Charlie. He also worked for Macy’s for three decades.
