  • Tiffany to open flagship in Paris

    NEW YORK — Tiffany & Co. announced plans to open a 10,000 sq. ft., multi-level flagshop store in Paris in 2014. The store will be located at 62, Avenue des Champs Elysées.

  • Kum & Go to invest $90 million in building 20-25 eco-friendly stores

    West Des Moines, Iowa -- Kum & Go has announced plans to invest $90 million in building a total of 20-25 new stores in the Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak region of the Centennial State within the next five years.
     
    Kum & Go, the fifth largest privately held company-operated convenience store chain in the United States, is marking the grand opening of its first three stores in Colorado Springs this week.
     

  • Meijer to double match donations for Midwest hunger relief

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer announced that it will double match every customer's $10 Simply Give donation made Nov. 9 to 10 to help boost support for local food pantries before the holidays. The Double Match Days initiative is being launched as part of the retailer's Taste of the Holidays in-store sampling event as a way to thank customers for their continued commitment to help fight hunger in the Midwest.

  • REI announces new store location

    Seattle -- REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) will open a store in Silverdale, Wash., in the fall of 2013.

    The 24,500 sq.-ft. store will include a seasonal rental department that will allow customers to test new outdoor activities, and a bike shop that will provide expert assembly and repair services. The store's community space will host outdoor-related classes, presentations and events.

     

  • Golfsmith names new CEO

    AUSTIN, Texas — Golfsmith International has named Sue E. Gove president and CEO of the world's largest specialty golf retailer. Gove, formerly president and COO of the combined Golfsmith and Golf Town business, has also served as the chief integration officer leading the successful Golfsmith-Golf Town combination which was finalized this past July.

  • Williams-Sonoma makes Quebec debut with new store design

    San Francisco — Williams-Sonoma said Friday that it will open its first store in Quebec — and its eighth in Canada — which will showcase a new design for the brand.

    Opening on Saturday at Carrefour Laval in Laval, Quebec, the new store incorporates added interactive features, a new layout and several terminals where customers can complete purchases throughout the store.

  • HH Gregg undeterred by near 9% comp decline

    Appliance and consumer electronics retailer HH Gregg, reported second quarter result on Friday that weren't as bad as expected.

  • ShopperTrak names 10 busiest shopping days of coming holiday season

    Chicago — Black Friday will be the single biggest sales and foot traffic day of this holiday season, followed by Saturday, Dec. 22, according to ShopperTrak, the world’s largest counter and analyzer of retail foot traffic. With the greatest possible number of shopping days — 32 — lying between Black Friday and Christmas this year, ShopperTrak predicts that national retail sales will rise 3.3% (over last year) during the peak holiday shopping months of November and December; retail foot traffic will increase 2.8%.
