  • Kohl’s opens three stores, remodels 30

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. – Kohl’s Department Stores announced it is opening three stores on Friday, with locations in Hyannis, Mass., Keene, N.H., and Michigan City, Ind. The company also said it is remodeling 30 locations this fall.

  • Two more 99 Cents Only Stores open

    City Of Commerce, Calif. — 99 Cents Only has announced the opening of two new stores. The retailer will open an 18,960o-sq.-ft. store in McAllen, Texas, and an 11,685-sq.-ft. store in Laveen, Ariz. The grand opening of each store will feature the sale of Westinghouse Flat Screen TVs for only 99 cents each to the first nine customers in line to visit the store.

    Both stores will feature a perishable food department, including produce, dairy and frozen foods.
     

  • Report: Foxwoods plans retail center

    Mashnatucket, Conn. -- Foxwoods Resort Casino is reportedly building a 300,000-sq.-ft. retail center that will house outlet shops. According to the Associated Press, Foxwoods is partnering with Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. to create a Tanger Outlets complex that will feature more than 80 retailers, including American Eagle Outfitters, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein and Nike.

  • J.C. Penney looking to raise some $800 million from offering

    Plano, Texas – Shares of J.C. Penney Company took a beating on Friday after the retailer priced its $932 million share sale at a 7.4% discount and detailed its shrinking cash position.  

    Penney priced its sale of 84 million shares at $9.65, down from a closing price of $10.42 on Thursday.

    The new offering should raise more than $800 million. According to Reuters, J.C. Penney, which is valued at $2.6 billion, had been considering issuing new stock shares as well as other unspecified alternatives.

  • Westward bound: Tractor Supply enters Nevada market

    Tractor Supply Co. has opened its first Nevada store as part of its expansion strategy into the Western region of the country.

    The new store is in Carson City on East William Street. After a soft opening earlier this month, grand opening celebrations commence Sep. 28.

  • Staples Canada reports 9% drop in energy consumption for second quarter

    Ontario, Canada -- Staples Canada announced its sustainability achievements for the second quarter of 2013, including a 9% drop in energy consumption (over the year-ago period). The retailer continues to focus on its long-term commitment to growing the business in a sustainable manner, and reducing its impact on the environment.

    Mobile commerce leader Shopgate has unveiled a new flexible pricing model that enables online merchants to set their own pricing for Shopgate's m-commerce solutions. 

    The new pricing allows e-commerce stores to customize their minimum contract period, fees and mobile integration to conveniently enter a rapidly growing mobile shopping market.

  • iParty stores in Massachusetts shift to Party City

    Rockaway, N.J. — iParty's 28 stores in Massachusetts have officially transitioned to the Party City brand name and will offer a larger selection of party supplies, decorations and costumes. The retailer says it timed the transition for the upcoming Halloween holiday.
