  • Au Bon Pain launches remodeling program

    New York City -- Fast-casual restaurant operator Au Bon Pain is launching a major remodeling program that will transform all of its 318 cafes. The Boston-based chain also is testing iPads as an order-taking device in select stores.

    Under this initiative, the company has already remodeled a majority of its cafes in the greater New York City area, one of the company's largest markets.

  • Groupon ventures into grocery deals with Big Y

    CHICAGO and CAMBRIDGE, Mass. and SPRINGFIELD, Mass. and BOSTON — Through a partnership with Incentive Targeting and HaloEffect, Big Y Foods will become the first grocery retailer to offer Groupon deals digitally loaded to shoppers’ loyalty cards, the companies announced.

  • Republic launches mobile optimized website powered by Venda

    Austin, Texas -- Digby announced Tuesday that U.K. apparel retailer Republic has launched a mobile optimized website through Venda’s advanced mobile platform powered by Digby.

    Through the platform, Republic is introducing mobile as a strategic channel that complements its e-commerce site and more than 110 retail stores across the United Kingdom. The mobile shopping experience will allow customers to search, browse and buy products in as little as 60 seconds from mobile devices such as iPhone/iPod Touch, BlackBerry and Android.

  • eBay acquires e-commerce platform

    SAN JOSE, Calif. — eBay Inc. announced that it has agreed to acquire Magento Inc., the creator of Magento, a leading open source e-commerce platform. The deal follows eBay’s acquisition of a minority stake in the company in 2010. Upon closing of the transaction, eBay will own 100% of the outstanding shares of Magento. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

  • Manhattan Associates recognized for providing Macy's with supply chain solutions

    Atlanta -- Manhattan Associates was honored as the "Best Third Party Provider" at the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions Association Awards, for its strategic thinking and leadership that has resulted in high-impact supply chain practices and partnerships. Manhattan was selected based on its partnership with Macy's, providing solutions from the Manhattan SCOPE solution suite that have supported the growth of the leading retailer's direct-to-consumer business.

  • ShopNBC names fulfillment VP

    MINNEAPOLIS — ValueVision Media, a premium interactive retailer via TV, Internet, mobile and social media, operating under the "ShopNBC" brand, announced that Nathan Martin, has been appointed VP fulfillment.

    Martin joins ShopNBC with nearly two decades of manufacturing and distribution experience. Most recently, he served as assistant general manager at United Stationers Supply Company. Previously, he held management positions at Cost Plus, QVC, and Verbatim Memory Corporation.
