  • Survey: Most consumers concerned about online fraud

    Los Altos, Calif. -- A survey released Tuesday by ThreatMetrix and The Ponemon Institute found that the majority of consumers have real concerns about online fraud.

    According to the study “Mobile Payments & Online Shopping Survey of U.S. Consumers,”  one-third of consumers intend to purchase more online than in-store this holiday shopping season, and three in four have either some or serious concerns about online fraud.

  • Lowe’s announces new ‘Never Stop Improving’ brand positioning

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe’s is replacing its “Never Stop Improving” tagline with a new one, “Never Stop Improving” as part of its new brand strategy.

    As part of the program, the chain is launching a new advertising campaign Monday, Sept. 19, 2011. Also, Lowe’s will soon be launching MyLowes, a online tool to help customers manage their homes and home improvement projects through every stage.

  • Saks Fifth Avenue gets new chief marketer

    NEW YORK — Saks announced that Denise Incandela, president Saks Direct and EVP of Saks Fifth Avenue, has been named chief marketing officer for Saks Fifth Avenue, a newly created role. She also will continue as president Saks Direct.

  • Williams-Sonoma and Barclaycard announced co-branded Visa card

    San Francisco -- Williams-Sonoma and Barclaycard announced Thursday a new co-branded Visa credit card and loyalty program, allowing cardholders to earn points redeemable for culinary-themed awards and enjoy a wide range of perks.

     

  • Toys ‘R’ Us’ holiday plans: fewer pop-ups, more exclusives

    New York City -- Toys “R” Us is cutting back on the number of temporary holiday stores it opens this year compared with last, but it is significantly expanding the number of exclusive products it offers, chairman and CEO Jerry Storch said at a press conference Wednesday. The retail chief’s bet on the hottest toy of the season: Animal Planet’s Air Swimmers line (helium-filled, radio-controlled flying fish), which will be available only at Toys “R” stores and via its website.

  • Saks appoints marketing head

    New York City -- Saks has named Denise Incandela to the newly created role of chief marketing officer for Saks Fifth Avenue.

    Incandela, who joined Saks Fifth Avenue in 1999, will continue as president of Saks Direct.
     

  • Patagonia names e-commerce head

    VENTURA, Calif. — Patagonia., a designer and distributor of technical outdoor clothing, has announced the appointment of Dmitri Siegel as the company's new VP global e-commerce, effective Sept. 12.

    As VP e-commerce, Siegel will provide strategic vision, leadership, and operational expertise in directing Patagonia's e-commerce strategies both domestically and abroad, the company reported. 

  • Walmart pushes mobile and social media initiatives with key acquisition

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores said Wednesday that its technology unit, @WalmartLabs, has acquired Boulder, Colo.-based mobile and social advertising firm OneRiot.

    OneRiot’s technology will become part of WalmartLabs’ mobile and social shopping efforts, allowing the retailer to hone its social media skills and develop a variety of shopping and retail-related applications.
