  • Study: Discounts as low as 2.5% sway shoppers to leave stores, purchase online

    St. Louis -- Forty-five percent of customers shopping in-store at bricks-and mortar-locations will walk out and complete their purchase online for a discount as low as 2.5%, according to new showrooming research from GroupM Next.

    This number jumps to 60% of shoppers who will leave and purchase a product online for a savings of 5%. When discovering an online discount of 20%, a small percentage of shoppers (13%) stay and complete their purchase in store.

    New York -- Cost Plus World Market has launched a new website as a part of the brand’s strategy to elevate its e-commerce business and provide expanded opportunities for customers to discover more at Worldmarket.com. This is the largest redesign of the site since its launch in November 2005.

    The West Coast is getting its first taste of Uniqlo. The Japanese apparel powerhouse has opened a tech-inspired pop-up store, on Post Street in San Francisco. The temporary store will remain open until the end of September, prior to the opening of the company’s Union Square flagship.

    OAKLAND, Calif. — Cost Plus World Market has updated its e-commerce site (worldmarket.com) to offer an enhanced shopping experience with social media integration, inspiration and solutions for the home, an increased number of products available online, expanded product information, a simplified checkout process and more.

  • Uniqlo to relaunch mall expansion with opening of store in Westfield Garden Plaza

    New York -- Uniqlo will open a location in Westfield Garden State Plaza shopping center, Paramus, N.J., on Sept. 28. The new store will occupy a 43,000-sq.-ft. space with two levels, and feature a separate dedicated entrance and a prominent façade. It will serve as the prototype for Uniqlo’s mall expansion strategy.

    Leading up to the opening, beginning Aug. 27 and continuing through Sept. 27, Uniqlo will operate a temporary store at the mall. The pop-up, designed to resemble a futuristic cube, will be located at the food court.

  • Caribou in partnership with Jewel-Osco

    Minneapolis -- Caribou Coffee Co. announced it will be expanding its retail and commercial footprint in the Chicagoland area by teaming up with supermarket operator Jewel-Osco, which is part of the Supervalu company.

    Caribou Coffee opened its first retail location within Jewel-Osco's Barrington store last week, with plans to introduce two additional coffeehouses in the grocery's Hoffman Estates and Countryside locations in the near future, as well as five additional coffeehouses within Jewel-Osco in 2013.
