    Palo Alto, Calif. -- HP announced that its technology is powering an interactive, hands-on experience for shoppers and visitors at the new McCormick World of Flavors store in Baltimore.

  • Target to stop reporting monthly sales

    New York -- Target Corp. will soon join the ranks of retailers who are no longer reporting monthly same-store sales. The discounter on Thursday said it will no longer report comparable sales, beginning in fiscal 2013.

  • Rite Aid opens 'next generation' Wellness store, reports September sales

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid unveiled what it called its "next generation" Wellness store as the chain reported a decrease in same-store sales Thursday.

    The store, in Lemoyne, Pa., is less than a mile from the 4,639-store chain's Camp Hill, Pa., headquarters. A ribbon-cutting Thursday morning marked the store's grand opening.

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys"R"Us is expanding further into the entertainment space with the launch of a new digital service aimed at providing family-freindly movies and shows to its customers.

  • Survey: A third of consumers will consider layaway for holiday shopping

    Whiting, Ind. -- A survey of 2,339 shoppers by CouponCabin.com found that 34% are at least somewhat likely to purchase items on layaway this holiday season.
     
    The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, also found that 9% are very likely to use layaway; 29% said maybe.

  • Uniqlo to open first West Coast flagship in San Francisco

    SAN FRANCISCO — Fast Retailing will open its first West Coast Uniqlo flagship store in the Union Square neighborhood of San Francisco.

  • Green building leaders establish firm to advance sustainable real estate

    Seattle -- Green-building consulting firm Paladino and Co. said Wednesday it has acquired S.D. Keppler & Associates, a green consultancy out of Rockville, Md.
     
    The two firms have joined to establish a comprehensive consulting offering focused on elevating the impact of green real estate programs within business.

  • Walgreens September sales down 7.8%

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Wednesday posted a 7.8% decline in its September sales to nearly $5.5 billion, compared with $5.9 billion for the same month in fiscal 2012.
