  • Study: Retailers want omni-channel POS software

    Franklin, Tenn. – A majority of retailers want their next POS software to have omni-channel capabilities. According to a new research study from IHLGroup, “Stores Reinvented: 11th Annual Store Systems Study,” 63% of retailers say their next POS software will utilize a single business logic that can be used for POS, mobile POS, m-commerce and e-commerce functions.

  • Better late than never, Cato debuts online

    Women’s apparel retailer Cato has made its debut into the world of online shopping with the launch of its first ever e-commerce site. The announcement came as the retailer reported holiday sales for the five-week period ended Jan. 4.
     
    Founded in 1946, Cato operates approximately 1,100 apparel and accessories specialty stores throughout the United States. With so many brick-and-mortar locations, the ability to supplement in-store inventory with an e-commerce strategy geared toward a new generation of connected shoppers became crucial for continued growth.

  • American Eagle Q4 revenues, same-store sales decline

    Pittsburgh – Total net revenue for American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. decreased 2% to $882 million during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013, compared to $904 million for the same quarter a year earlier. Consolidated same-store sales decreased 7%, compared to a 5% increase for the comparable period in 2012.

  • Ex-Walmart CEO David Glass returns

    David Glass has kept such a low public profile since stepping down as Walmart president and CEO it was surprising to see his name pop up as the featured speaker at an upcoming event in Northwest Arkansas.

    Glass stepped down as CEO of Walmart nearly 15 years ago and he’s scarcely been heard from since, leaving those newer to the company to know him largely as the guy after whom the company’s massive information technology building is named.

  • Euclid offers free offline customer analytics

    SAN FRANCISCO – Brick-and-mortar customer analytics provider Euclid is introducing Euclid Express, a free analytics solution that provides retailers with insights into customer behavior and store performance. Using existing Wi-Fi, Euclid allows retailers to assess the offline impact of marketing activities, identify trends in store performance, and improve the overall shopping experience.

  • Wintry weather affects Pier 1 Dec. holiday results

    Pier 1 president and CEO Alex W. Smith expressed extreme disappointment over the company’s December sales results, which came in well below expectations despite having kicked off the holiday selling season with a record post-Thanksgiving weekend.

  • Costco tops estimates in December

    Issaquah, Wash. - Costco Wholesale Club’s same-store sales rose 3% in December, beating analysts' estimates of a 1.8% gain. The metric climbed 5% in the U.S. and inched up 1% overseas for the five weeks ended Jan. 5.

    Total monthly revenue increased 6% to $11.53 billion.

    For the 18-week period, same-store sales were up 3%. In the U.S. the metric rose 4% and 1% internationally.
