  • Nordstrom plans Elizabethtown, Pa., fulfillment center

    Seattle — Nordstrom has broken ground on a fulfillment center at Conewago Industrial Park in Elizabethtown, Pa. It will be the company’s third fulfillment center. The 672,000-sq.-ft. building, with a 470,000-sq.-ft. mezzanine, is scheduled to open in summer 2015.

    In its first three years, the new center will create nearly 400 full-time positions and additional opportunities for part-time and seasonal jobs. Looking ahead, Nordstrom expects to increase staffing to 700 full-time positions or more.

  • Sears closing downtown Chicago store

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Sears plans to close a store in the Loop section of downtown Chicago in April 2014. Sears spokesperson Howard Riefs announced the closing in an email which said the store’s 160 employees, most of whom are part-time, will be eligible to apply for jobs at other Sears stores in the area and also to receive severance.

  • Nordstrom to open online fulfillment center

    Nordstrom plans to open its third fulfillment center at Conewago Industrial Park in Elizabethtown, Pa., in summer 2015. The approximately 672,000-sq.-ft. building, with an additional 470,000-sq.-ft. mezzanine, will enable faster delivery for Nordstrom.com, Nordstrom mobile app and Nordstrom catalog orders.

    Seattle – Nordstrom plans to open its third fulfillment center at Conewago Industrial Park in Elizabethtown, Pa. Work has begun on the approximately 672,000-sq.-ft. building, with an additional 470,000-square foot mezzanine, which is scheduled to open in summer 2015, and the company is taking bids.

  • Changes in Campbell’s global supply chain team

    Campbell Soup Company has named Dave Biegger as SVP of global supply chain, with responsibility for engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, customer service, quality and facilities. The appointment is effective April 1.

    Biegger succeeds David White, who will retire from the company after 10 years of service, the company said.

  • Sembler/Forge fund acquire Raleigh, N.C., center

    St. Petersburg, Fla. — Forge Real Estate Partners III, co-sponsored by the Sembler Company and Forge Capital, has formed a joint venture with East Coast Acquisitions and acquired Tarrymore Square in North Raleigh, N.C.

    Tarrymore Square is a 256,805-sq.-ft. shopping center with a 65% occupancy rate. Existing tenants include Walgreens, Rugged Warehouse, Surplus Warehouse, Rainbow Fashions, Rent-A-Center and Miller-Motte Technical College.
