  • PetSmart opens new DC in Pennsylvania

    Phoenix -- PetSmart on Friday celebrated the opening of a new distribution center in Berks County, Pa.

    The new facility will bring an estimated 500 jobs to Berks County by the end of 2016. The 870,000-sq.-ft. DC will serve 25% of PetSmart’s stores in eleven states, handling and delivering consumables, hard goods and fish to 170 PetSmart stores in 2014 and more than 260 stores by 2015.

  • Doerken acquires Oceanside, Calif., shopping center

    Oceanside, Calif. — Doerken Properties Inc. has acquired Flags on Mission Shopping Center in Oceanside, Calif., for $12.6 million. El Super grocery and dd’s Discounts anchor the 107,600-sq.-ft. property.

    The Carlsbad, Calif., office of Lee & Associates brokered the transaction representing both the buyer and the seller, Mission Avenue Investors.

  • Report: U.S. retailers have $300 million credit with ocean freight carriers

    Washington, D.C. – U.S. retailers reportedly have $300 million in refunds with ocean freight vendors, yet they are unaware of this because of invoice errors by their ocean freight transportation providers. According to a report from ocean freight auditing service Ocean Audit, problems with infrastructure of ocean freight carriers are also part of the issue.

  • PetSmart opens distribution center in Berks County, Pa.

    PetSmart CEO David Lenhardt was joined by Lt. Governor Jim Cawley of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Congressman Charlie Dent (PA-15) at the grand opening of PetSmart’s new distribution center (DC) in Berks County, Pa.

    This DC will bring an estimated 500 jobs to Berks County by the end of 2016. The 870,000-sq.-ft. facility will serve 25% of PetSmart’s stores in 11 states, handling and delivering consumables, hard goods and fish to 170 PetSmart stores in 2014 and more than 260 stores by 2015.

  • Lucky number 1,300 for Tractor Supply

    Tractor Supply Company is opening its 1,300th store March 29. The store, which will be located in Bullhead City, Ariz., is part of the company’s plan to operate a total of 2,100 domestic store locations.

  • Wal-Mart unveils futuristic truck prototype

    Bentonville, Ark. – Wal-Mart showcased its futuristic truck at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Ky. The Walmart Advanced Vehicle Experience is a tractor-trailer combination that features leading edge aerodynamics, an advanced turbine-powered range extending series hybrid powertrain, electrified auxiliary components, and sophisticated control systems, developed in support of the company’s sustainability program.

  • eBay grows Canada footprint

    eBay Enterprise plans to open a new fulfillment center in Ontario, Canada, in second quarter 2014. The new 150,000-sq.-ft. facility will support client growth, including The Children’s Place, which recently signed a new multi-year agreement with the company.
