  • Walmart.com welcomed in Indiana

    The Indianapolis suburb of Plainview will be home to Walmart’s newest dedicated e-commerce fulfillment center when the 1.2 million-sq.-ft. facility opens early next year.

    The retailer indicated in early June that Indiana would be home to its third e-commerce fulfillment center but did not identify the community at the time. Walmart’s other online dedicated centers are located in Texas and Pennsylvania. The newest facility will employ approximately 300 people with hiring expected to begin in October.

    New York -- Walmart will open a new dedicated e-commerce fulfillment, in the Indianapolis suburb of Plainview. The1.2 million-sq.-ft. facility is expected to open in early 2015.

    Walmart’s other online dedicated centers are located in Texas and Pennsylvania.

  • Family Dollar names new merchandising exec

    Jeffrey Thomas was elevated to the role of SVP of merchandise operations at Family Dollar as the retailer looks to reignite sales under the leadership of chief merchandising officer Jason Reiser.

    Thomas previously served as vp of merchant services and fill a position previously held by Scott Zucker who left the company. Thomas will report to Jason Reiser, Family Dollar’s EVP and chief merchandising officer.

  • 99¢ Only Stores signs 615,000-sq.-ft. industrial lease

    Commerce, Calif. — 99¢ Only Stores has signed a lease for the entire 615,000-sq.-ft. Garfield Corporate Center in Commerce, California, in Los Angeles County. It is the largest industrial infill lease ever signed in Los Angeles County. In addition, the building ranks as the largest freestanding building to be constructed in Greater Los Angeles in the past 10 years.

    JLL represented the landlord, KTR Capital Partners, the property’s developer and landlord, in the transaction.

  • Report: Wal-Mart opens website for Indian small retailers

    New Delhi, India – Wal-Mart Stores In. has reportedly opened an e-commerce site to serve the small retailers that shop at its members-only cash-and-carry stores in India. According to Bloomberg, Wal-Mart is piloting the site for small retailers located in the cities of Hyderabad and Lucknow, with full rollout across India planned in January 2015.

    A new website from PayPal is looking to help businesses navigate global markets. PassPort, which is free and was launched earlier this week, provides insight into global markets by country, outlining gift-giving traditions and major holidays, as well as providing shipping tools for sellers.

  • eBay Enterprise has good news for Paula’s Choice, Walgreens customers

    Walgreens and Paula’s Choice online customers will be getting their orders faster now that they have eBay Enterprise and its regional fulfillment centers at their disposal.

    ebay Enterprise said that Walgreens had renewed its agreement that will utilize the Reno, Nevada, fulfillment center to better reach its West Coast customers.
