    HONG KONG — On the heels of a 98% drop in its yearly earnings, Esprit Holdings said it is divesting its North American businesses and exiting three major European markets.

    The company said it is actively looking for a partner willing to acquire its North American operations, which include 93 stores in the United States.

    Northborough, Mass. -- BJ's Wholesale Club said Tuesday it has opened its newest Massachusetts Club location at Northborough Crossing 6102 Shops Way in Northborough, Mass.

    The 120,000-sq-ft. store replaces a 23-year-old BJ's Wholesale Club nearby and adds services such as a gas station, full-service delicatessen, enhanced tire center and integrated liquor shop.
     

  • Toys ‘R’ Us enhances omnichannel offerings

    Wayne, N.J. -- Toys “R” Us is adding a new feature to its “Buy Online, Pick Up In Store” service in time for the 2011 holiday whereby customers using the service will have the ability to designate an alternate person to pick up their order through “Family and Friends Pick Up.” The “Buy Online” service allows customers to shop from the comfort of their own homes, and then to pick up their purchases at the Guest Services desk at a nearby Toys “R” Us store.

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys"R"Us, which continues to implement its store integration strategy, has announced that it has improved its e-commerce, mobile and in-store shopping experience. 

    Part of its multi-channel improvement effort, the company has enhanced its "buy online, pick up in store" program by giving shoppers the ability to designate an alternate person to pick up their order through "family and friends pick Up."  

  • Sears names new supply chain leader

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears Holdings announced that former UPS executive Raj Penkar is joining the company as SVP and president of the company's supply chain.

    In his new role, Penkar will be accountable for all aspects of the company's supply chain, including logistics, warehousing, inventory management and distribution. Prior to joining Sears, Penkar worked at UPS for 24 years and most recently served as president of UPS' customer solutions division.

  • Sears appoints supply chain head

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears Holdings announced that Raj Penkar will be joining Sears Holdings on Sept. 15 as senior VP and president, supply chain. He will be accountable for all aspects of the company's supply chain, including logistics, warehousing, inventory management and distribution. 

    Penkar joins Sears Holdings following a successful 24-year career at UPS, where he most recently served as president of UPS' customer solutions division.
