  • Leslie's Swimming Pool to open 48 stores this spring

    Phoenix -- Leslie’s Poolmart said Monday it will grand-open 15 Leslie’s Swimming Pool Supplies stores across 10 states on April 5, as part of the company’s plan to open 48 new stores this spring.

    The new stores opening on April 5 include: Tucson, Ariz.; Pleasanton, Calif.; Rohnert Park, Calif.; Cockeysville, Md.; Gastonia, N.C.; Las Vegas; New Hyde Park, N.Y.; West Chester, Ohio; Spartanburg, S.C.; Harlingen, Texas; Lake Jackson, Texas; Sherman, Texas; Wylie, Texas; Manassas, Va.; and Virginia Beach.

     

  • Dunkin' Donuts to open seven restaurants in northern Utah

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin' Donuts said Monday it has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with existing franchisee Sizzling Donuts to open seven new restaurants in northern Utah.

    The first restaurant is slated to open in 2013, with the remainder by 2020.

  • Great American Cookies to expand in Puerto Rico

    Atlanta -- Global Franchise Group said Wednesday it is expanding its Puerto Rican presence via a multi-unit operator.

    A.M.A. Pretzels International opened two Great American Cookies stores in Puerto Rico -- in Plaza Carolina in Carolina, and Plaza Rio Hondo in Bayamon.

    "Global Franchise Group is thrilled to have such outstanding multi-unit franchisees expand the Great American Cookies brand in Puerto Rico," said Global Franchise Group chief development officer John Barber.

     

  • Herdez expands cooking sauces line, eyes wider distribution to Walmart

    LOS ANGELES — Herdez, maker of Mexican food products and brand of MegaMex Foods announced today it expects expanded distribution to Walmart stores by June, and filling those shelves will be four new Mexican Cooking Sauces currently lining the sauce aisle at Los Angeles-area Albertsons stores.

  • Sprouts Farmers Market comes to Houston area

    Houston — Sprouts Farmers Market, an independent natural foods grocery store chain, opened its first Houston-area store today.

    The 25,300-sq.-ft. store opened at the southwest corner of Cinco Ranch Boulevard and Peek Road in Katy, Texas. The store will sell farm-fresh produce and thousands of natural, organic and mainstream food items at an affordable price point.

  • Pepsi, Walmart offer free food to D.C. kids

    Feed The Children, PepsiCo and Walmart partnered with Central Union Mission in Washington, D.C. this week to distribute two tractor-trailers full of food and essentials to help 800 area children and families in need.

    PepsiCo, a longtime Feed The Children partner, donated Frito-Lay brand snacks, Quaker brand products and Pepsi brand beverages while Walmart, with the assistance of its suppliers, provided a loaf of bread and a five pound bag of apples and oranges to each of the 800 families.

  • Report: Wal-Mart to test in-store lockers for online purchases

    New York -- Walmart plans to test the use of in-store lockers to hold goods ordered on its website until shoppers can pick them up, Reuters reported.

    Neil Ashe, president and CEO of the discounter’s global e-commerce division, discussed the test, which will get underway this summer in about 12 locations, On Tuesday at the chain’s e-commerce media day. The event was held at its global e-commerce offices in San Bruno, Calif. Ashe also said that Wal-Mart is set to surpass $9 billion in annual online sales this year.

  • 7-Eleven leases 17 stores in Cleveland area

    Dallas -- 7-Eleven will rebrand convenience stores in Ohio’s Cuyahoga and Lorain counties as part of a 19-store lease from Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Gas Partners LP.

    The effective date of the leases will vary, but all leases are expected to be in place by March 31, 2013.
