  • RILA notes concern on union contract talks at West Coast ports as deadline looms

    Arlington, Va. – With the deadline to resolve the union contract negotiations at West Coast closing in, the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) on Friday said that undertaking essential measures to avoid work stoppage and preserve reliable channels for retail supply chains should be the top priority.

    RILA issued the following statement, which it attributed to Kelly Kolb, VP government affairs:

  • Drybar receives $20 million investment

    Los Angeles -- Drybar, the leading blowdry-only salon concept, has received a $20 million investment led by SPK Capital and existing investor, Castanea Partners.
     

  • TerraCycle program enables The North Face stores to recycle hard-to-recycle plastic

    Trenton, N.J. -- TerraCycle, an international recycling company, and The North Face are working together to pursue a solution to the common problem of massive amounts of left over polyethylene bags that are used to protect merchandise through distribution and transit. The North Face has engaged 25 of its retail stores in TerraCycle’s The North Face Polybag Brigade, to ensure these plastic bags get recycled. Together the two companies have kept 1.5 million plastic polybags, equaling more than 62,000 lbs., of plastic out of U.S. landfills.

  • DSW bolsters omnichannel fulfillment arsenal with eBay Enterprise

    DSW is expanding its omnichannel fulfillment capabilities with eBay Enterprise In-Store Pickup. The company is also poised to launch Ship-to Store as part of its omnichannel strategy.

    DSW selected eBay Enterprise as its omnichannel fulfillment partner more than a year ago, and has reportedly seen success with its Ship-from Store and Dropship capabilities.

    King of Prussia, Pa. -- eBay Enterprise, an eBay Inc. company, announced that Designer Shoe Warehouse will expand its omnichannel fulfillment capabilities with eBay Enterprise In-Store Pickup. The company is also poised to launch ship-to-store as part of its progressive omnichannel strategy.
      

  • Ikea continues Midwestern expansion

    With company representatives, Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, local officials and community leaders on hand, Ikea officially broke ground for its future St. Louis store scheduled to open fall 2015.

    The 380,000-sq.-ft. location with 1,300 parking spaces will be built along the northern side of Interstate-64 and Vandeventer Ave. on nearly 21 acres in the City’s Cortex Innovation District. The company has contracted with St. Louis-based S. M. Wilson & Co. to construct the project.

  • HanesBrands to expand global footprint

    HanesBrands plans to acquire DBApparel of France from Sun Capital Partners, provided consultation with European and French works councils representing DBA employees is completed and customary closing conditions are met.

  • Target further incentivizes customers to shop online

    Target is giving customers added incentive to shop online by offering free shipping for all orders of $50 or more.

    The new policy, which takes effect immediately, excludes oversize and heavy items, which will be subject to a handling fee.
