  • Ikea’s solar system in Centennial, Col., store goes live

    Centennial, Col. -- Ikea on Tuesday officially plugged-in the solar energy system installed at its upcoming location in Centennial, Col. (the 415,000-sq.-ft. store is due to open on July 27).

    The 60,000-sq.-ft. array consists of a 498-kW system, built with 2,212 panels. It will produce approximately 740,000 kWh of electricity annually, the equivalent of reducing at least 564 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), eliminating the emissions of 100 cars or powering 62 homes yearly.

  • Blue Moon Apparel to open at Auburn Village

    Auburn, Calif. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased retail space in Auburn, Calif., at Auburn Village to Blue Moon Apparel.

    Opening its third women’s apparel location, Blue Moon Apparel has leased 1,400 sq. ft. of space and will open in June.

    The 134,000-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by Bel Air grocery store alongside national retailers such as CVS/pharmacy, Dollar Tree and Subway.
     

  • Voorhees Town Hall opens at Voorhees Town Center

    Voorhees, N.J. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust announced Monday that Voorhees Town Hall has opened at the mixed-use Voorhees Town Center, located in Voorhees, N.J.

    On Monday, more than 50 Voorhees Township employees moved in to the new municipal office, which is located on the upper level of the mall across from Macy’s and also features a street-level entrance.

  • Dick's Q1 sales up, beats EPS expectations

    PITTSBURGH — Dick's Sporting Goods reported consolidated net income for the first quarter ended April 30 of $37.5 million, or 30 cents per diluted share, exceeding the company's earnings expectations provided on March 8 of 26 cents to 28 cents per diluted share.  For the first quarter ended May 1, 2010, the company reported consolidated net income of $26.2 million, or 22 cents per diluted share.

  • Walmart 1Q EPS beats guidance, but U.S. comps still a sore spot

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart reported first-quarter earnings that were above the company's guidance, reflecting stability and strength in global operations, according to president and CEO, Mike Duke.

    Walmart's net income was $3.4 billion, or 98 cents per diluted share, compared with net income of $3.3 billion, or 87 cents per diluted share. 

  • Saks Fifth Avenue’s Off 5th to up store count in 2011

    New York City -- Saks’ Off 5th outlet division announced Tuesday that it plans to open four new stores this year – Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Northbrook, Ill., and Charleston, S.C.

    Additionally, the Off 5th arm said it will open a new store at the Market at Town Center in Sugar Land, Texas, that will replace its store located at The Fountains in Stafford, Texas.
     

  • Urban Outfitters Q1 net income dips; on track to open 50 to 55 stores

    Philadelphia -- Urban Outfitters reported Monday that profit for the first quarter declined more than expected, posting net income of $39 million compared with $53 million a year earlier.

    However, revenue topped Wall Street's estimates, as the operator of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and Terrain banners saw sales rise 9% to $524 million. Same-store sales fell 5%. But direct-to-consumer (catalogs and online) same-store sales increased 15%.

  • Jack in the Box implements web-based real estate technology

    Dallas -- Lucernex Technologies said Tuesday that Jack in the Box has implemented Lucernex’s store lifecycle management solution to manage its real estate portfolio, which includes more than 2,200 Jack in the Box restaurants across 19 states.

    According to Lucernex, by implementing the retail version of the Lx Retail product suite, Jack in the Box can streamline its process of selecting store sites, building and opening new store locations, as well as managing existing locations to avoid time delays and save costs.
