  • Sports retailer gets smart about retail analytics

    ATLANTA — National sporting goods retailer Hibbett Sports has selected a business intelligence platform developed by QuantiSense, which will allow it to leverage retail analytics so it can improve local assortments across all physical stores.

  • Crocs implements SAP apparel and footwear application

    New York -- SAP AG on Monday announced that Crocs Inc. is implementing the SAP Apparel and Footwear application to replace a legacy enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

    Implementation is already underway and will help give Crocs complete control of its global supply chain — from procuring raw materials to delivering finished styles across the globe.

  • Partnership brings cloud-based solutions to retailers

    NEW YORK — Yomari and Predictix will join forces to deliver merchandising and analytics solutions to large and midsize retailers.

    Yomari is a leading independent professional services company focused exclusively on analytics, business intelligence and data warehousing for the consumer value chain. Its customers include Dressbarn, Gander Mountain, Petco, REI and Williams-Sonoma.

  • Online sales boost Urban’s outlook

    PHILADELPHIA — Urban Outfitters Inc. said its same-stores sales for the holiday season rose 9%, including its direct-to-consumer business. Excluding that unit, same-store sales fell 1%.

    Total company net sales for November and December increased 15% to $666 million.

    Among Urban Outfitters’ brands, comparable sales increased 33% at Free People, 10% at Urban Outfitters and 5% at Anthropologie. Direct-to-consumer net sales increased by 38% for the period and wholesale segment net sales increased 21%.

  • The sky didn’t fall at Best Buy

    Strength in the computing, mobile phone and appliance categories enabled Best Buy to report flat same store sales during the holidays and temporarily silence the voice of those who had prematurely written the company’s obituary.

  • Wal-Mart names new chief of Walmart Latin America; Solorzano to retire

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores announced that Enrique Ostale, president and CEO of Walmart Chile, formerly D&S, has been named EVP, president and CEO of Walmart Latin America, where he will oversee Walmart's operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua.

  • Former Tyco exec new president of National Envelope

    FRISCO, Texas — National Envelope, a privately held envelopes manufacturer in North America, has appointed former Tyco executive Jim Pinto to president and COO.

    An affiliate of global investment firm the Gores Group, National Envelope regards itself as an environmental leader in the paper and envelope converting industries and has certifications from the Forest Stewardship Council, Rainforest Alliance, Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification and Green Seal.

  • Walmart makes Latin American leadership change

    The head of Walmart’s Chilean operation will assume responsibility for all of Latin America following the retirement of current president and CEO Eduardo Solorzano.
