  • PRN announces promotion

    SAN FRANCISCO  — Premier Retail Networks, a global leader in digital place-based media services, has announced that Jon Landa has been promoted to SVP sales for PRN’s West & Central regions. 

    As PRN’s VP sales since June 2007, Landa has been responsible for direct clients and agencies on the West Coast. Before joining PRN, he served as VP national accounts at ReelzChannel. 

  • Limited Brands Q1 net income up 47%

    Columbus, Ohio -- Limited Brands reported Wednesday that strong sales boosted its first-quarter profit to $165.2 million, up 47% over its prior-year profit of $112.5 million. The company warned that rising costs will hurt its margins this year.

    The parent of Bath and Body Works, Victoria's Secret and La Senza previously reported a revenue increase of 15% to $2.22 billion. Same-store sales rose 15%.
     

  • PetSmart records 28% profit gain in Q1, beats Street

    Phoenix -- PetSmart reported Wednesday that net income in the first quarter rose 28% to $70.9 million, compared with $55.6 million in the year-ago period. Results beat Wall Street expectations.

    Revenue increased almost 7% to $1.49 billion, from $1.40 billion in the previous year. Same-store sales rose by 5%.

  • Dollar Tree continues strong earnings streak

    CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Dollar Tree reported 34.4% year-over-year EPS growth for the first quarter of 2011. Earnings per diluted share for the first quarter were 82 cents, compared with earnings per diluted share of 49 cents reported for the quarter ended May 1, 2010, which included a non-recurring, non-cash charge of $26.3 million relating to a retail inventory accounting change in the first quarter 2010.

  • Edens & Avant names former P&G exec as marketing VP

    Columbia, S.C. -- Edens & Avant announced Wednesday the hiring of Kerry Cavanaugh as its new VP marketing.

    With over a decade in global brand and product innovation management at Procter & Gamble, Cavanaugh will lead Edens & Avant in a new strategic marketing direction focused on brand building and consumer innovation in retail.

    At Edens & Avant, Cavanaugh will oversee the corporate and center specific marketing of 124 retail properties located in urban markets up and down the east coast.

  • Children's Place sales and income up in Q1

    SECAUCUS, N.J. — The Children's Place Retail Stores has announced net sales of $430.8 million for the first quarter ended April 30, a 2% increase compared with $422.1 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2010. Comparable-retail sales declined 3.2% in the first quarter of 2011.

    The company reported that income from continuing operations after tax was $29.1 million, or $1.10 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2011, compared to $28 million, or $1.00 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2010.

  • Promenade Shops at Centerra hosts dog expo

    At Promenade Shops at Centerra, in Loveland, Colo., dog owners will attend the sixth annual Paws on the Promenade outdoor dog expo on May 21. Held in the Main Plaza of the shopping center, the event features dog-related vendors, contests, giveaways, entertainment and refreshments.

    Colorado has long been known as a dog-friendly state, and the Promenade has leveraged the focus on dogs to forge a relationship with its customers and their pets.

  • Limited Brands posts double-digit comps growth in Q1

    COLUMBUS, Ohio — Limited Brands reported that adjusted earnings per share for the first quarter ended April 30, were 40 cents compared with adjusted earnings per share of 25 cents for the quarter ended May 1.  First quarter adjusted net income was $129.8 million compared with adjusted net income of $82.9 million last year, the company reported. 

    Limited Brands reported that comparable-store sales for the first quarter increased 15%, and net sales were $2.217 billion compared to $1.932 billion last year.
