  • Bosco syrup sweetens up Walmart aisles

    TOWACO, N.J. — Bosco brand chocolate syrup is making its Walmart debut in 530 stoes in 12 Eastern states including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

    Bosco which comes in a 22 ounce squeeze bottle is all-natural and vitamin-fortified. Walmart will sell Bosco for $1.98.     

  • Duane Reade opens second ‘up market’ concept in Manhattan’s Financial District

    New York -- Drugstore retailer Duane Reade, a division of Walgreens, is expanding its Manhattan footprint with a second distinct location in the city’s Financial District. The new, 22,000-sq.-ft. store boasts a number of amenities, and—in a first for a U.S. drug store—also features a museum-quality exhibit that pays tribute to the neighborhood and hallowed grounds of downtown Manhattan. 

  • Topco names general counsel

    SKOKIE, Ill. — Topco Associates announced that Andrew Broccolo has joined the company as general counsel. In this new position Broccolo, 46, will report directly to Topco president and CEO Randy Skoda.

    “I’m thrilled that Andy is now part of our leadership team,” Skoda said. “Andy will be instrumental in helping Topco effectively manage risk while also providing sound legal advice that assists us in driving our day-to-day business of delivering value to the association’s 52 members.”

  • Hilco Trading names chief marketer

    NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Hilco Trading has named Gary Epstein as chief marketing officer for the company. Epstein will be responsible for Hilco’s overall marketing strategy and execution, branding, market research, etc. across all of the operating companies. Epstein will be taking over the role from Rick Kaye, who has held the position for more than 10 years and will remain with the organization as an EVP until January 2013.

  • Dannon Company opens its first restaurant

    New York -- The Dannon Co. on Monday made its first entry into the restaurant business with the opening of The Yogurt Culture Co., in Manhattan.

    The restaurant is located at 125 Park Ave., between 41st and 42nd streets. It offers small-batch premium yogurt (as opposed to the company’s pre-packaged product that is sold in grocery stores) and fruit purees and other toppings.

  • Nike names new president of Jordan brand

    BEAVERTON, Ore. — Larry Miller is rejoining Nike as president of the Jordan brand, the company announced Monday. Miller will be responsible for driving the global growth strategy for all aspects of the Jordan brand and will report directly to Trevor Edwards, VP global brand and category management for Nike.
